god of war 2018 (video game)

I'm so glad God of War 2018 was the first PS game I played. I was nervous about playing it. I knew combat was a big part of the gameplay, so I thought it would be another typical "macho" game. I was so wrong.
Off the bat, we started with seeing Kratos and his son, Atreus, hold a funeral for Atreus' mother and Kratos' wife, Faye. Then, we are slowly introduced to the distant dynamic Kratos and Atreus currently have. Atreus is a sweet and empathetic boy while Kratos is shown to be more closed off. One moment that stood out to me is when Atreus is upset over not being able to kill the deer. Kratos goes to reach out to his son, but ultimately pulls his hand away. There are so many more moments like this within the story. I love seeing them become closer by having Kratos finally open up to Atreus.Freya's character was my favorite. I loved how much she cared for Atreus and did what she could in order to help him. I thought she was a nice parallel to Kratos as a parent.
As for the gameplay, I actually thought it was pretty fun! I personally played on the easiest mode because I didn't want to spend too much time on specific fights. One of my favorite fights was the battle between Kratos and Thor's sons. Although annoying to deal with, I LOVED their move where it flash bangs us. Also, I fought all the valkyries. I got my ass beat MULTIPLE times but my young brother gave me some pointers and after like a week, I did it !!
I tried to platinum it, but I'm sorry I just can't with the realm with the poisonous mist... Maybe I'll go back to it when I finish God of War: Ragnarok. Need to lock in order to play God of War: Laufey in February! Well, I would have to play in May since I'll be in last semester of college... Either way, hopefully I finish it before the end of August!
